		In the south seas off the mainland of the great continent, lay the Jupiter Islands. A place notorious for a reputation with pirates, but harmonious in practice.
	For 700 years, the small island of Ganymede prospered as a place of trade. With difficulty the town had successfully negotiated peace with foreign powers, conquerors, and pirates, and has maintained a neutrality respected by its neighbors. The reason being the people of Ganymede retained a very unique ability.
		Every few decades the south seas would be besieged by the terrible sea monster, the Kraken.
	The island people possessed a powerful talisman known as "The Builder's Key" plus the secret of making it work. Whenever the monster came to threaten the Jupiter Islands the townsfolk of Ganymede would send out a young virgin, acting as protector with the talisman to repel the beast and send it back to the depths.

In present day, the town exists in an uneasy peace, surrounded by warring factions and thieves. One hundred years ago there was a terrible war between the two great guilds that dominated the world. The Builder's Guild, and the Magician's Guild. During that war the secret of the Builder's Key had been lost. However, in all that time no leviathan of the deep had ever resurfaced. Elders and scholars speculated that all sea monsters were destroyed in the great war.

By tradition, the island town of Ganymede still uses a child guardian to carry the The Builder's Key. Every year a young girl of age is chosen to be the island town's protector, and fulfills the duty they are summoned to perform, often as the town sheriff and law enforcer.
